| Vorontsov
Palace and Park
The buildings of the Vorontsov Palace which stand
in the park descending like an amphitheatre to the
sea have become an integral part of the landscape
of the Crimea Souther Coast. Erected in the 1830s-1840s
they marked a new stage in the evolution of Russian
architecture, when austere Empire style with its
monumental order forms was changed to medieval art.
The Vorontsov Palace was built mainly with 16th
century English architectural devces, i.e. the so-called
Tudor style, which were enriched with elements of
Moresque architecture. The central staircase leading
to the main entrance features marble sculpturies
of lions. The general territory of the parks with
4 lakes, waterfalls and fountains covers 40 hectares.
